Jade has long been sought after by Chinese buyers and Sworders are delighted to offer two significant collections


An historically important ship's figurehead from the Brazilian slave ship, 'Piratenim’, to be included in Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers’ Winter Country House Sale on 9 December 2014.


It was a sale of several treasured collections from London and East Anglia


                  A silver Beetle Nut Box and Cover, mid 19th century, in the form of a butterfly alighting on a gourd, the sides engraved with endless knots and shou, in three divisions for beetle nut, lime and pa'n leaf, stampedshu wu, zu wen, xiang, dents, wear, 8.8cm.  By repute this box was looted from the Summer Palace by Captain Bryan Charles Fairfax of the Durham Light Infantry, b.1873, d.1950.
