Medals Dominate Forthcoming Sale

Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers forthcoming Arms, Armour, Medals and Militaria Sale on Tuesday 17th November will include over 120 lots of medals. Of particular interest are two Pathfinder groups, a DFM to F/S Leslie Arthur Booth (1142150) RAFVR 35 Pathfinder Squadron, a DFC to P/O Alfred Astle (177562) RAFVR 156 Squadron who died on the 24th of September 1944. There are also DSO, DCM and MC groups, including a KOYLI MC group to Captain Walter Gimson, killed at Langemark, August 1917. Among the campaign groups of particular note is a Royal Naval Opium, Baltic and Crimean War group of Four to Leading Seaman William Otton. For those who are interested in Civil Orders and Police groups there is a CVO, CBE group of seven to Assistant Commissioner Henry James Ellis Hunt Metropolitan Police. Sworders in Suffolk are proud to offer for sale by auction one of the finest collections of cased and loose sporting guns and rifles, to include Purdey, Joseph Lang, John Manton, Joseph Manton, Rigby, Egg, Nock, Beckwith etc.
The collection includes fourteen cased sets, amongst which are some exceptional items in terms of condition and provenance. There are also equally as many loose guns, again, of exceptional quality and condition.
