Ann Marsden Comery née Barraclough (1934-2017)

The daughter of Lancelot John Barraclough, chief mining engineer for the Bengal Mining Company, Ann was raised in India and had many fond memories of that time.  Her immersion in Indian culture began her passion for wonderful objects, colour and design.

Annabelle Comery

The late Mrs Annabelle Comery

Upon returning to England, Ann married the head of a large international brokerage company and it was her husband who encouraged her desire to collect unusual and exquisite pieces from the countries they visited together. Many of these she gave away to friends.

Through a lifetime of collecting, she built a diverse selection of truly wonderful antiques, paintings, mirrors, silver and glass, reflecting her innate good taste and belief in quality whatever the current trends.  She simply bought what she loved and her extraordinary collection consisted of items of beauty to be displayed, enjoyed and shared.

A selection of items from the collection will be offered in the Homes and Interiors sale on Wednesday 30 May with further items in the Anniversary Auction on the 19 and 20 June.
