A William IV gold intaglio seal

A William IV gold intaglio seal, c.1830-1840,
with a cushion-shaped amethyst, intaglio engraved with a coat of arms, probably relating to the Ledred (of Somerset) family, the tablet rub set to a chased and gadroon dome back with a scrolling urn and chased bale, with polished bead, seal tested as approximately 15ct gold. 28mm long,
together with a Georgian gold intaglio engraved seal, c.1970,
a cushion-shaped cornelian tablet bearing the crest and garter motto for the family, a coronet with a diagonally reeded mount, open scrolling sea scroll back, with diagonally reeded bale with polished bead top, seal tested as 9ct gold, 24mm long,
a gold cased memorial locket, dated 1849, and
a gold cased watch key,
all suspended on a cased gold split ring, c.1830,
split ring tested as 18ct gold

Condition report
Loss of enamel to the back of the memorial locket.
Wear to the surface of the watch key.
Split ring 18mm diameter.
Both seals quite crisp to the mounts.
Light surface marks to the matrix/tablets.


In person

Absentee bidding

Absentee bids can be left up to half an hour before the start of any sale. Please note when we receive two or more absentee bids for the same amount, the first bid received will be the buyer.

Telephone bidding

For telephone bids, we will contact you during the sale, and a saleroom representative will bid live with you over the phone. Bid amounts do not include buyers premium. We offer this service for higher value lots with an estimate of £500 or more for our Specialist Sales. Requests to bid by telephone need to be made before 4pm, the day before the sale.

If you would like to leave a commission bid on our website you can do so up until 30 minutes before the sale starts. Leaving a commission bid through sworder.co.uk is free for all registered clients.
