Banknotes, an Operation Bernhard Fifty Pound note, bearing the signature of the Chief Cashier 'B.S. Catterns', dated June 15 1933 and with the serial number 50 N 54500,

Footnote - Operation Bernhard was originally devised by the Nazis to destabilise the British economy by simply dropping these forged notes over the country. This scheme was later abandoned in favour of using the forged money to finance German intelligence operations.
