Reginald Francis Hallward (1858-1948) was born at Sandown on the Isle of Wight.
He was a stained glass artist, poet, painter and book designer. He trained at the Slade School of Art and the Royal College of Art, and may have been introduced to stained glass by Christopher Whall, who would remain a lifelong friend. Hallward had a long career and, with the help of his daughter Patienc,e was still working in stained glass into his eighties. He is best known for his stained glass and light glass works for British churches.
Following World War I, like other artists, sculptors and designers, Hallward created war memorials in England, France, and Belgium. Some of his projects involved his wife, an artist and poet, and his daughter, also an artist.
