Julian Opie (b.1958)

Julian Opie (b.1958)
'Imagine that you can order these (5)'
signed 'Julian Opie', inscribed with title and dated '1992' verso, acrylic on wood, glass and aluminium
97 x 128cm

Provenance: With Lisson Gallery, London.

Julian Opie is a leading British contemporary artist. He studied at Goldsmiths College, London, from 1979 to 1982 and emerged as an influential figure on the art scene. Opie's work is instantly recognisable; distinctive clean and pared-down graphics, with a seemingly simple approach that captures the essence of the objects or people depicted. The present lot is skilfully executed with its three-dimensional shapes, shadows and crisp lines - here the colourful image, combined with the playful title, engages the viewer.

Sold for £3,600
