A Chinese export blue and white tureen and cover
19th century,
of shaped rectangular form with canted corners, the body painted in underglaze blue with a continuous chinoiserie landscape depicting pagodas, figures and birds in flight within a river setting, raised on a spreading foot with a patterned border, the sides applied with moulded animal mask handles, the domed cover similarly decorated with floral and diaper-pattern bands, surmounted by a finial modelled as a stylised wave or scroll

With chip to the corner rim. Kiln pickup to the base and interior/ underside of the lid. Scuffs and marks to the basal rim and rims. Friring crack to the underside where the foot joins to the base. Please see additional images.
