A 1964 MG MGB Roadster

Registration Number: ANU 973B
Engine Number: 18GBUH 85668
Chassis Number: GHN339661
Odometer Reading: 11,130

Finished in white, with a black on black piped interior and roof, this MGB presents in good order showing signs of recent work and care. The brightwork is in generally good order as are the chrome wire wheels. One of the earlier chrome bumper 'Mk1' cars in roadster configuration, this car has retained its early features including pull door handles and wire-spoked steering wheel to the restrained interior, and has been much enjoyed by the current owner over the last 2-3 years of ownership.

First registered on 18 June 1964, this car retains the 1798cc petrol engine and is a four-speed manual. Sounding healthy at the time of our visit, this running and driving car is ready for the summer roads.

Footnote:

NOTE: BUYER'S PREMIUM FOR THIS LOT IS 12.5%.

Estimated at £8,000 - £10,000

Condition Report

The car was subject to an extensive restoration some years ago, and both the engine and gearbox perform very well. It starts easily on choke, warms up properly, and drives as expected. When tested at low speeds, the car stops rather confidently, demonstrating generaly effective braking.

While the car runs and drives, as with most classics, we would recommend a degree of general recommissioning to allow the next owner to fully satisfy themselves as to its condition. All gauges are functioning correctly with the exception of the oil pressure gauge, which appears to be stuck between 40 and 60 psi.

The bodywork is presentable but would benefit from some attention, including minor touch-ups and a thorough polish. The brightwork could do with some improving with some detailing. The roof, according to the vendor, is weather-tight.

Inside, the interior is well presented and generally tidy, complementing the car nicely. It is fitted with practical all-weather rubber mats.
