Footnote:Martín Chambi is widely considered to be one of Latin America's most acclaimed photographers. In 1924, Chambi became one of the first to photograph Machu Picchu, which helped project Peru's status around the globe. In 2019, his work was posthumously credited by the Peruvian government as being part of the Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
Chambi's photographs typically depicted ordinary daily life for Peruvians, especially indigenous communities in the Andes These examples, taken circa 1930, are redolent of Chambi's oeuvre, with one example depicting a family party, while the other showcases a family with their recent potato harvest.
