If you would like to sell items by auction with Sworders, the first thing we need to do is to provide you with a complimentary auction valuation, whether you are enquiring about a single item or an entire collection.
An auction valuation is an estimate usually given as a price range, e.g. £100-150. This is the range in which our specialist believes the item will sell at auction. It is based upon a range of factors, including past auction results for similar items and market trends.
There are a number of easy-to-use ways to receive a valuation:
By email – if you would like us to conduct a valuation via email, please send a description of the item, or collection, with image (s), to us at email@example.com
Please note the more information you can provide, the more accurate our valuation will be. Once we have received your email, one of our specialists will be in touch.
Our team of valuers and specialists are available to offer free, professional advice at both our Stansted Mountfitchet Auction Rooms and Hertford office.
Ours specialists are available to offer free valuations in the following areas:
Accessories - Prudence Hopkins
Asian Art and Coins – Richard Harrison
Books & Maps – Michael Kousah
Decorative Arts - John Black
Jewellery - Catriona Smith
Paintings – Amy Scanlon

For larger consignments we are always happy to arrange confidential home visits.
Recent finds from the Hertford office include a Chinese brush pot, carved from a single piece of Zitan wood which made £150,000 in the Asian Art sale, a Ralph Lauren ‘Ricky’ bag making £6,000 in the Accessories sale and a recent consignment for the forthcoming Decorative Arts sale includes a watercolour by John Piper which will be sold with an estimate of £6,000 - £8,000.
If you have too many items to transport to the Stansted auction room or Hertford office, or if they are too large, fragile or valuable, we may be able to arrange for one of our valuers to visit you free of charge, to provide informal, verbal identification, valuation and sales advice.
