We are honoured to announce Cambridge-based Tom’s Trust as the official charity partner for our forthcoming two-day Anniversary Sale on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 June. The sale will be a high profile event marking 10 years in our award-winning auction rooms in Stansted Mountfitchet, and will be a great opportunity to raise funds for the amazing charity, Tom’s Trust.
Tom’s Trust helps children with brain tumours by providing clinical psychologists to assess and treat their emotional needs in a rehabilitation setting. It costs around £620 to pay for one child’s clinical psychology support for a year, and we are aiming to raise £1,860 for Tom’s Trust, which will provide care for three children and their families.
Deborah and Andrew Whiteley, founders of Tom’s Trust, set up the charity in 2011 as a legacy to their son, Tom, who died just seven months after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour. Tom’s Trust aims to raise awareness of the experiences of children who have brain tumours and the rehabilitative support they need from the point of diagnosis. Deborah will be speaking at our VIP Anniversary Sale preview event to share her experiences and raise awareness.

The majority of fundraising will take place at our VIP preview event at which our guests will be invited to make text donations to Tom’s Trust, while exclusively previewing the items that will be on sale during the main anniversary sale in June. Lars Tharp, one of the longest running experts on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow, will be attending the preview to carry out a series of gallery tours. Furthermore, as well as encouraging public donations in, and out of, the auction rooms, we will be donating £3 from the sale of every Anniversary Auction catalogue to Tom's Trust.
2018 promises to be a very exciting year for Sworders as we are celebrating a decade in our award-winning, purpose-built auction rooms. Engaging with our local community is integral to what we do, so, naturally, we wanted to use this opportunity to raise money for an incredible cause. With the support of our buyers, sellers, visitors and partners, we hope to make a significant contribution to Tom’s Trust, and to truly make a difference to the lives of children who have been diagnosed with brain tumours.

You can make a donation to Tom’s Trust now by simply texting the message 'TOMS11£amount' to 70070, for example to make a £10 donation, please text 'TOMS11£10' to 70070.
