Nestled in the picturesque Surrey countryside lies the charming, and aptly-named, Comforts Place, an Elizabethan manor house with ivy-clad brick walls and exposed timber beams, which exude almost five hundred years of history.
Yet enclosed within this time-softened exterior, we found a decorative scheme that, whilst being firmly rooted in the traditional, flourished with pops of vibrant colour and pattern in a nod to the burgeoning contemporary 'English country house' aesthetic, as championed by the likes of the late Robert Kime. With its core of richly patinated and well-worn antiques from Georgian and Victorian England, the collection is punctuated with stylish contemporary lighting and soft furnishings, illustrating perfectly that a thoughtful interior design scheme, which brings modern pieces into a traditional space, can accentuate its architecture and allow the character of the house itself to take centre stage.
