The Montpelier Edit

The Montpelier Edit

We are pleased to present an eclectic combination of fifty-three lots from Montpelier Interiors finely curated range of antiques and vintage items. This stylish and considered collection will be offered in our sale on the 13-14 June.

31 May 2023

Montpelier Interiors was established by Nick and Belinda Hough-Robbins, who both have a distinct appreciation of the beauty and craftsmanship of furniture and works of art, and a keen interest in the integration of pre-loved items with the new. The two have been shaping the style and feel of Montpelier for the past ten years, stating that modern homes are rarely decorated in uniform traditional or contemporary style, but rather, they are a combination of the two. They provide their clients with a hybrid of traditional antiques, decorative arts and interior design.

A carved giltwood and gesso pier mirror (£3,000-5,000)

The founding of Montpelier was also hugely motivated by the need to responsibly source furniture, as creating and importing newly made furniture can significantly increase a carbon footprint. For example, purchasing a vintage table can save up to 0.46 tonnes of CO2 versus buying a table brand new.

A pair of plaster intaglio displays (£300-500)

A small giltwood and gesso mirror (£300-500)

Engaging with the world of antique fairs, independent shops and markets, the pair have travelled extensively throughout Europe seeking inspiration and discovery, and sourcing unique and beautifully designed pieces for their business and clients. Montpelier has also featured at many decorative and antique fairs in the UK. Nick describes Montpelier’s style as ‘English country house’ combined with a quirky and unconventional edge and hopes that his client’s homes embody a well-travelled aesthetic, coupled with an enjoyment and appreciation of the works of art and furniture that Montpelier source, a must for Nick and Belinda.

A carved and painted pine console table (£1,500-2,500)

The Sworders and Montpelier collaboration includes a characterful and curious range of pieces, featuring furniture, lighting, and decorative works of art, which will be available for in-room and online bidding on the 13 and 14 June.
