New users will need a Sworders online account in order to bid in our Timed Auctions.
Once logged in you will be able to see the current bidding that lot has reached, together with our guide estimates of its value. The value you bid excludes buyer’s premium of 30% (including VAT) which will be paid in addition, except for our Fine Wine and Port auctions when it is 18% (including VAT).
When you have placed a bid you will receive a confirmation email. If you are outbid at any point you will receive a subsequent email notifying you, giving you the chance to increase your bid amount.
If a new highest bid is placed during the last 5 minutes before a lot closes, the end time for that lot will be extended by another 5 minutes until there are no more bids remaining. A lot of bidding activity happens in those final minutes, so keep monitoring the lots you are interested in!

The auction details are as follows:
Auction: The Philip Piper Jazz Collection - Timed Auction, ending 9th August 2020
Philip ‘Pip Piper’ was born in 1926 and in his late teens he discovered Jazz and immediately became hooked. His knowledge of the early years of Jazz was extraordinary and he was known for being able to quote who had recorded what, when and where, along with the names of all the band members. He quite rightly established a reputation as a Jazz historian and an expert on the subject.
A collection of this quality is rarely offered on the market. Lots include many scarce and rare examples on the Vocalion and Victor labels plus Brunswick, Columbia and Blue Note and V Discs. Read Full Article Here
Please note this auction will start to close one lot at a time, in sequential order from 6pm on Sunday 9 August. A countdown clock is placed under every lot on the lot detail page for you to keep track of the time remaining to bid before the lot is closed.
If a new highest bid is placed during the last 2 minutes before a lot closes, the end time for that lot will be extended by another 2 minutes until there are no more bids remaining. A lot of bidding activity happens in those final minutes, so keep monitoring the lots you are interested in!
