A George lll 18ct two-colour gold snuff box, London, 1809,
by Alexander J Strachan. Rectangular rose gold rounded corner form with a central rectangular panel with basket engine turned decoration, with a green gold raised scrolling border to a, textured ground. Shallow thumbpiece to engine turned basket decoration to all sides. Hand engraved inscription to the inside of the lid 'From a Sincere friend' to the interior base of the box, an earl's coronet with monogram below, '37, Chesham, Place, Finder will be Rewarded'. 74 x 50 x 18mm, 119.72g

With a copy of the original receipt by repute purchased from a direct descendant of the Duke of Willington's brother and reputed to be from the Duke's personal collection.
Cheniers deficient to the front, just under the lip of the top.
Some marks, and scratches commensurate with it's age.
Very small area of loss to the edge of the left hand side at the base.
