A rocking lambing chair, 19th century and later, with a large curved back over a solid seat with a drawer beneath, 95cm wide, 120cm deep, 152cm high
Believed to be from the 19th century, this lambing chair is a beautiful piece of British farming history. Traditionally used to nurse newborn lambs, lambing chairs are characterised by a lower drawer, which would have been filled with straw to keep the lambs warm.
Reimagined as a rocking chair, the original wood has been fully restored with a natural wax finish, with new arms and drawer handles made using wood from the period. With new cushions, upholstered with a hundred-year-old Welsh blanket, this characterful lambing chair is transformed into a cosy, functional piece for the home.
This is an online only auction and lots will not be available to view at our auction rooms, however, all items are comprehensively illustrated. If you require further information please request a condition report.
