1965 Wolseley 1100 Saloon One owner and

1965 Wolseley 1100 Saloon
One owner and 34,000 miles from new
Registration number: MAR 787C
Chassis Number: WAS13790
Engine Number: 10GRBTAH31306

In 1965 BMC added Wolseley and Riley versions of the popular 1100 to its range, each sharing the 1098cc A-Series engine. In Wolseley form with twin-carburettor configuration, the engine produced 55bhp which resulted in sprightly performance for a small family saloon.
As with the other variants, the Wolseley 1100 made use of the east-west transverse engine layout and smooth-riding Hydralastic suspension. Being the 'upmarket' version, the Wolseley came with a host of extras including two-tone paint, polished wood dashboard and even an illuminated grille badge. Short-lived in production terms , the 1100 was replaced by the more powerful 1300 in 1967.

Registered on the 8thNovember 1965, this incredible time-warp example has had just one owner from new. The car appears to wear its original factory coat of paint and is resplendent in two-tone maroon over grey and the upholstery is in grey leather. The original carpets and interior trim are in excellent order, having always had over-rugs fitted and the floors underneath them are still in shiny factory original paint.
A quick inspection of the underside of the car suggests that it has been both rust proofed and sprayed with engine oil at times during its life and no welding is apparent.
The recorded mileage of just 34,430 at the time of inspection is believed correct and is substantiated by a good history file which contains a near complete run of MOT test certificates and a host of other paperwork. Although not presently taxed and MoT tested due to the circumstances under which it is being sold, on our recent inspection the car started instantly on turning the key and drove very nicely.
