LOTS 1-18: The collection of Dr Raymond Penn MB BCh (Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery).

Dr Penn was an eminent pharmacologist, a researcher, lecturer, and author of 'Pharmacology (Concise Medicine Textbook)', published by Harcourt in 1974, the standard medical student text in the 1970s. He had a lifelong interest in history, and became an authority on the history of medicine, earning a doctorate on the history of drug regulation.

His collection of coins relating to the history of medicine led to him being commissioned by Seaby’s to write the seminal book 'Aspects of Medicine on Ancient Greek and Roman Coins', published in 1994.
