A unique collection of carved ivory is to be sold in the forthcoming Fine Interiors auction on 22 & 23 March 2022. This will be the very last time that items of this nature will be offered for sale.

Sworders is fully accepting of the impending ban on the trade of ivory. We abhor and condemn the poaching of all species and the deliberate destruction of natural habitat. The items in this sale pre-date 1947 and were produced at a time when the importance of conservation was not fully understood.

Whatever your standpoint, there is undeniable skill and craftsmanship exhibited in these works and therein lies a beauty.  Each piece within this impressive collection are, we believe, of a museum quality. Many of those featured here are the product of a lifetime’s acquisition by one discerning collector and this offering will be the final opportunity to acquire such special, high quality pieces in one of our sales, thereby marking the closing of a chapter in the history of the art market.

Sold for £20,000
