Vinho do Porto, 1893, two bottles

Vinho do Porto, 1893, two bottles

These bottles were part of a number found half buried in the Palace of Val-Flor when it was 'occupied' by the state after the revolution of 25th April, 1975.
Tall, flute shaped bottles. Believed bottled in 1946 after long ageing in large oak barrels. Decanted off sediment, re-corked and re-waxed in 1979. Very bin- soiled and torn labels marked with the initials (V.F.) of the Marquis of Val-Flor an aristocratic wine connoisseur for whom the port was bottled.

Sold for £900
