A Victorian silver cased glass scent bottle,
opening to reveal a green glass scent bottle, the silver case with repoussé decoration of angels, case, dated Birmingham, 1897, Henry Matthews, 7.3 x 5cm,
another similar silver cased scent bottle,
with scrolling decoration, also containing a green scent bottle, 6.8cm long, and
a silver gilt and double-ended scent bottle,
with engraved pierced fretwork at both ends, with hinged and screw lids and a concealed locket to one end, 14.7cm long (3)

Condition Report

Reynolds' Angels decorated example has some small dents to the lid. Hinge and snap action are good. Vertical hinge good. One small dent to back of case beneath Angels. Interior rim ever so slightly misshapen. Some rubbing to gilt interior. Some tiny nibbles to stopper and base ring of green glass bottle. Some residue to interior.


The hinges, lids/doors and snap action of the smaller example are slightly loose and do not fit tightly together. General surface wear to exterior. Some rubbing to gilt interior. Some tiny chips to rims of stopper and bottle. Residue to interior.


Silver gilt largely rubbed to double ended scent bottle. Reticulated silver mount at screw top end is loose and moves up and down freely, coming off when screw top is removed. Part of this reticulated piece is broken. Screw top has split to the interior. Nibble to interior rim beneath. Hinged action okay. Button lock works fine. Lid does not sit totally flush. No stopper. Please note that both ends have concealed lockets. Some residue to interior. General surface wear throughout.
