A late Victorian pearl, ruby and diamond crescent bar brooch, c.1890

A late Victorian pearl, ruby and diamond crescent bar brooch, c.1890,
with a central bouton shaped pearl to a plain collet in a blade edge bar. A closed crescent with a row of graduated old Swiss cut and rose cut diamonds, grain set in silver, to an outer row of graduated oval Swiss cut and circular mixed cut rubies, all in cut down collets. A scalloped gallery to a two row underbezel, with an old European cut diamond at each end of the bar, with an oval Swiss cut ruby, claw set in a collet at the terminal. A sprung pin marked patent to a 'C' catch, with a later safety chain. Tested as approximately 9ct gold, 18ct gold and sterling silver. 58mm x 30mm approximately, 10.28g

Diamonds bright and lively.
Gemstones bright and lively.
Tarnish.
The bouton pearl at the centre is probably a replacement for the original star.
The ruby at each end is a later addition - in more modern collets.
Surface reaching inclusions - to some rubies.

If you would like to bid by telephone please contact our team prior to the auction with your details of the lots you are interested in and your full name, address, telephone number(s) and email address. Once our team have entered your bid request you will receive an email confirmation. We will contact you during the sale and one of our team will bid live with you over the phone.

Please note that we normally offer this service for lots with an estimate of £500 or higher and all telephone bid requests must be received by close of business the day before the auction.
