Photography Assistant

Full Time

Competitive salary iro £16,000-19,000

 

Are you interested in the world of art and antiques? Would you like to join our knowledgeable and friendly team, working in beautiful auction rooms in the idyllic Essex countryside?

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and organised individual to join our photography department. The role will involve moving various items into situ, taking photographs, basic editing, uploading images and assisting team members during busy periods. Previous photography and editing experience is desirable but not essential as in house training will be available.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

  • The ability to work independently using your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Well organised and conscientious
  • Strong eye for detail
  • Creative flair
  • Keen eye for images and composition
  • Basic computer skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Picture Department Assistant

Part-Time | 3 days per week

Salary | £9-10 per hour depending on experience

 

Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic department assistant to join our Picture Department, assisting the team with a busy schedule of 11 sales per annum.  The ideal candidate will be pro-active, quick to learn and have an enthusiasm for art and antiques.  Excellent organisational and customer relationship skills are essential.

The role will include

  • Managing sellers’ contracts, including gathering all consignments and documents from clients
  • Managing sale activity including vendor and buyer enquiries both pre and post-sale
  • Managing deliveries, unpacking consignments,
  • Stock control
  • Managing photography, liaising with the photographers and uploading images
  • Lotting up sales
  • Liaising between in house specialists, satellite offices and consultants
  • Working closely with specialists to understand our customer drivers and help maintain an industry leading service
  • Assist with saleroom preparation and condition reports
  • Liaising with shipping department post-sale

 

The ideal candidate will…

  • Be comfortable talking to clients, and able to handle client relationships throughout the sale process.
  • Be confident, professional and courteous in dealing with the public
  • Build strong working relationship with the team in the Stansted saleroom
  • Have attention to detail
  • Be a good team worker and be able to work individually

Reporting will be to

Head of Department

 

An interest in Modern and Contemporary Art would be an advantage and there may be scope to develop research and cataloguing skills for the right candidate as the role develops.
