Sworders Auctioneers are thrilled to announce the introduction of a dedicated Islamic art section within its bi-annual Asian Art sales. This new focus will showcase high-quality works of art, paintings, manuscripts, metalwork, ceramics, glass, wood, stone, arms and armour, and textiles from the Islamic world, ranging from the 7th century to the modern day.
Already well established, Sworders’ Asian Art sales are a cornerstone of the international auction calendar and hold full previews at Sworders London Gallery, located in the heart of the capital. These previews coincide with Asian Art Week in London, attracting leading dealers, collectors, and institutions from around the world. From Iran, Turkey and Central Asia, to the countries of North Africa, our auctions have long featured superb and finely crafted works from across the globe. The introduction of a dedicated section ensures these works receive the focused attention and enhanced visibility they deserve.
Highlights have included an Ottoman gold-damascened steel kilij sword from the highly anticipated Paul Atkinson | The Nomadic Collector auction, which soared to £18,200, a large Ura-Tube suzani panel from The Guinness Sale at Elveden, which sold for £4,550; a contemporary work by Massoud Arabshahi (Iranian, 1935–2019), which achieved £7,800, a large square Persian Qajar tile, which realised £3,510, and a Persian School (20th century) painting of a couple entwined, which sold for £2,210.
Sworders offer a fully bespoke service from initial consultation through to final sale, including expert valuations, comprehensive condition reporting, seamless payment facilitation, and international shipping solutions; ensuring a smooth and professional experience for consignors and buyers alike.
