This November, Sworders is delighted to present Tastemakers: Modern and Contemporary Art & Design, an exciting new auction celebrating the artists, designers, makers, collectors and patrons who have shaped visual culture across the 20th and 21st centuries.
Bringing together the very best of international art, design and craft, the auction will explore those who challenged convention, pushed creative boundaries and helped redefine the way we live with, collect and understand art and design.
At a time when the distinction between so-called ‘high’ and ‘low’ art became increasingly blurred, artists and makers embraced a wide range of materials, disciplines and forms. Tastemakers will reflect this spirit of innovation and craft, presenting works across studio and contemporary ceramics, paintings, prints, sculpture, photography, textiles and furniture.
The sale will trace a rich cultural journey, from the Bright Young Things of the 1920s to the Young British Artists of the 1990s, and onwards to the creative disrupters of today. It will highlight the individuals and movements that have influenced taste, style and collecting across generations.
For enquiries, please contact Bryn Sayles for Modern and Contemporary Art, or Matthew Yeats for Design.
Bryn and Matthew recently joined Sworders having spent many years working in major London auction houses, including on cross-category art and design auctions. They look forward to bringing this experience and expertise to Tastemakers: Modern and Contemporary Art & Design.
