After the much-lamented closing of Chalk Farm Library in March 2012, due to a lack of funding, a group of local volunteers set out together to save their much-loved community space. With great support and a surge of local action, in April 2012, the group succeeded in re-opening the building as Primrose Hill Community Library. A truly inspiring effort, and with thanks to over 200 residents volunteering time and 494 donations totalling £593,000, a 20 year lease on the premises was secured. A local hide out of figures such as Alan Bennett, the Community Library provides to over 4,000 members, as well as hosting a wonderful range of events.
