Growing up in the celebrated artistic community of Great Bardfield, Chloë was surrounded by leading figures such as Edward Bawden and Michael Rothenstein and deeply influenced by the extraordinary women of that circle, including her mother, Sheila Robinson – a pioneering artist and collaborator with Bawden at the Festival of Britain.

Chloë Cheese (b.1952), 'My Mother’s House', lithograph in colours (£300–500)
In her talk, Chloë will explore the vibrant Bardfield community of the 1950s and ’60s, shining a light on the often-overlooked contributions of women artists of the time, while reflecting on how attitudes toward women in the art world have shifted – and the challenges that persist today.
