Louisa Marriott - Marketing Assistant

Since graduating from Norwich University of the Arts with a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree, Louisa has always had an interest in art and creative ways of thinking. During her studies her work focused on art and politics, leading her to win the 2017 Khojaly Art Peace Prize at the Houses of Parliament. After graduating, she turned her creative eye to digital design and content creation, using these skills in a more commercially focused format.

With previous roles in graphic design and events, Louisa brings a range of digital skills and is excited to merge her experience in digital design and her passion for the arts in her new role within the Marketing team.

Let's get to know her...

How have you found your introduction to the world of auctions?

Being completely new to the world of auctions, I have really enjoyed learning so much about the whole auction process and how Sworders operates. With no prior knowledge or having never attended an auction before, I have become fascinated by how the organisation works and each department's contribution to the overall operation.

Which museum, anywhere in the world, would you most recommend visiting?

One of my favourite museums has to be The Met in New York. Having visited in 2017, it was so amazing to see such famous works of Art first hand, after studying them for years where I had only viewed them online. From Jackson Pollock to Seurat, there is such a range of artwork on show in such an amazing building.

Which country would you most like to live in and why?

Having interrailed around Europe in 2017, I got to visit so many amazing European cities including 3 places in Italy, where I had never visited before. I instantly fell in love with the culture, history and of course, food. Trading the unpredictable British weather to living on pasta, pizza and prosecco sounds pretty perfect to me!

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy any excuse to go shopping whether that’s online or a day out to the shops to make the most of it! I often visit new exhibitions at London galleries, with one of my favourites being Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Rooms – an exhibition I had waited years for, and finally saw at the Tate Modern.  I love seeing theatre shows on the West End, having recently seen Pretty Woman and The Jersey Boys.
