Arthur Probsthain Bookshop, established in 1903, is a historic independent bookstore located at 41 Great Russell Street, London, directly opposite the British Museum. Founded by the orientalist Arthur Probsthain, the shop originally opened on Bury Place before relocating to its current premises in 1905.
Still family-run to this day, the bookshop has long specialised in literature from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Over the decades, it has earned a global reputation as one of the leading specialists in these fields, supplying books to museums, libraries, and collectors around the world. At its peak, the collection comprised more than 150,000 volumes, including many rare and antique works.
