We are pleased to present Richard Mussellwhite's collection of Tunbridge Ware in our 9 January Homes & Interiors auction.
With a keen eye for the skill and fine beauty of Tunbridge Ware, Richard started his unique collection in the 1960s. Over four decades, he expanded his study of this distinctive decorative inlaid woodwork while gradually adding new pieces. Along with his wife Joyce, he enjoyed attending auction houses and visiting antique shops spanning many counties across southern England.
As an amateur woodturner and Member of the Society of Wood Craftsmen, Richard would often delight at how “the wood itself tells me what shape it wants to be.” Tunbridge Ware gave Richard much pleasure throughout his life. He would be happy to know his collection brings joy to new owners too.
