Frequently Asked Questions

There is no better or worse time to sell throughout the year. The market keeps moving all year round and our sales in September and March are well place within the auction calendar.

We are here to help! Our specialists are very happy to provide you with a valuation or probate of your collection. You never know, you might have a life-changer in the back of your cupboard!

All works will be thoroughly researched and catalogued. We have a dedicated marketing team who will promote the sale through digital and print channels, using social media and direct marketing. In addition, all sales will be listed for bidding on our website and also on the-saleroom.com, along with Drouot, Invaluable, Lottissimo and Live Auctioneers, enabling us to reach a worldwide audience of bidders.

Fashions change and while certain areas like Victorian watercolours are in the doldrums, currently we are seeing strong prices for Old Masters, in particular early portraiture. Topographical works, and pictures fresh to the market in good condition are also performing well. Buyers want an attractive picture on their wall so if you like it, there is a high chance someone else will too.

We have regular valuation events in London, Stansted and Hertford offices, please call or email us to book an appointment for your most convenient location.
