For three generations the master weavers of the Seirafian family have produced rugs that are widely considered today as being the utmost quality.

The legacy began in 1939, when Haj Agha Reza Seirafian (1881–1975), a respected banker, investor, and carpet collector, entered the industry after acquiring two unfinished rugs from a master weaver. Determined to raise the standard of excellence, he employed only the finest materials, designers, and craftsmen. Under his direction, the Seirafian workshop doubled the traditional knot count, elevating it from an average of 270 knots per square inch to approximately 550 or more. This pursuit of perfection was carried forward by his seven sons— the late Mohammad Ali, Mohammad, the late Sadegh, the late Ahmad, 'Ali, the late Hossein and Hassan Seirafian, among the next generation, his grandson Mojtaba Seirafian.

Seirafian carpets are celebrated for their exceptional craftsmanship and use of premium materials. Often woven on a silk foundation, the hand-knotted pile is spun from the finest kurk wool, shorn from the chest and shoulders of young lambs. The elevated knot count enabled weavers to render highly intricate, elaborate designs with remarkable clarity. Accents of silk thread further enhanced their beauty, while the variety of designs, ranging from medallions and arabesque scrolls to figural or pictorial scenes, demonstrated both technical mastery and artistic innovation. Seirafian designers became renowned for their ability to create perfectly graded curves, seamlessly integrated borders and sophisticated compositions, all harmonized by balanced colour palettes that avoided broad fields of harsh primary tones.
