This role provided him with valuable insight into the auction process and the diverse fields represented within the firm, forming a strong foundation for his transition into cataloguing.
His principal areas of interest include Photographica, Memorabilia, Automobilia and Classic Cars, combining a lifelong passion for collecting with a practical understanding of the auction market. Having grown up surrounded by auction houses, antiques, and collectables, Finn developed an appreciation for the industry from an early age. His grandfather was both a collector and artist, fostering a passion for history, craftsmanship, and design. His father spent many years working in senior roles within motor car departments at leading auction houses, including Bonhams and Sotheby's, before moving into restoration and private valuation work. Through this family connection, Finn's interest and experience in classic vehicles and the auction world naturally developed from a young age.
Alongside his role at Sworders, Finn maintains and enjoys classic cars and is an avid collector of film-format Photographica; as well as Art Deco and Mid-Century functional design, with a particular appreciation for distinctive objects that are of modern usability. His broad collecting interests give him an understanding of both the historical significance and personal value that objects can hold for their owners.
Finn particularly enjoys working closely with clients and colleagues, uncovering the stories behind collections and ensuring that every item is presented to the market with care and accuracy. He is committed to continually developing his knowledge and expertise across multiple collecting fields and looks forward to building upon his experience within the auction industry.
